Bands…not of the wedding variety

While jamming on my ipod the other day to Otis Redding I had a thought. Who would be my “must-see” bands/artists if I had my choice of the rock and roll legends. There were a few super easy names that jumped up out at me, but others I had to think about. Here is what I came up with. My, if they were alive now, what a summer show tour that would make!

Otis Redding – the Man could sing.

Jim Morrison – My first experience with hearing The Doors music was at Chuck E Cheese when I was a little kid. The creepy robot singers always sang “come on baby light my fire”. I had their version on 45. I probably won it playing skee ball.

Sweetwater (the singer didn’t die but her vocal chords were severed in an accident and she never sang the same again)

Elvis (mid-career Elvis, not baby Elvis and certaintly not bloated/wasted Elvis)

Nirvana ( will never forget the day he took his life. I was headed into NYC with my mom and bro and we had hte radio coverage on the entire time)

Amy Winehouse (amazing songwriter. i would have loved to hear her voice in person)

James Brown (the man could DANCE!) that would be a hell of a show

John Denver (his voice reminds me of my childhood. it comforts me.)

Sublime (with Bradley of course) My fave band all through high school.

Jimi Hendrix –(that would be a mind- blowing show)

And last but certainly not least, the all powerful Janis Joplin. I have loved her since the early 80’s when I was a baby and my sister would be playing her music in the next room over. It always smelled of Patchouli Oil. 😉

What about you guys? What bands would you want to see if you could? This summer I am hoping to make it to some great shows. Mumuford & Sons is still currently my favorite group and I would die to see them again. Their energy at their show last year blew me away. I would also love to see the following:

The Avett Brothers

Mumford & Sons (of course)

The Black Keys

Jimmy Buffet – i have yet to attand an infamous JB show. i heard they are legen – wait for it – dary.

The Legwarmers -i have to see them at least twice a summer. it’s the only time i can dance for 3 hours straight

Fiona Apple  – she is actually out touring. She “spoke” to me in the 90’s. Don’t judge me. ”

Dave Matthews Band – another huge VA giant that I have never seen.

I will leave you with this sexy image of the lovely Marcus Mumford. I love him.
